Lo temps / Weather

El temps a Nova Zelanda va ser força variat. Però concretament, al nord de l'illa nord, va ser on més ens va sorprendre aquesta varietat, ja que en una hora podia canviar vint vegades el temps: pluja fina, pluja forta, sol, vent, sol i vent, pluja i vent, pluja i sol,... Semblava que el temps s'hagués tornat boig.

Ens pensàvem que tot Nova Zelanda seria així, però va resultar que no, que bàsicament era allí al nord. Després, parlant amb un neozelandès en un bar de poble, ens va fer notar que en ser la zona nord tan estreta era la influència dels dos mars que l'envoltaven que feien que el temps canviés tan sovint.

També vam adonar-nos com de diferent pot ser el temps en dos vessants diferents d'una muntanya: mentre a l'oest hi plovia a bots i a barrals, a l'est, després de creuar l'Arthur's Pass, hi feia un sol increïble.

Weather in the north island surprised us a lot, specially in the far north. Within an hour weather can change twenty times: drizzles, showers, wind, sun, rain again, wind and rain, sun and wind, sun and rain... As if weather had become crazy.

At first we thought it would be like this across NZ, but we were wrong. Seems like this just happens in the north. Many days later we understood the reason after talking to a nice kiwi in a village bar: the far north land is very narrow, so weather influence from both seas is very high.

We also noticed how mountains can be weather barriers. At the same time heavy rain was falling in the east, the sun was shining brightly in the west. Just cross Arthur's Pass and voilà.
